NEWS: On Bright Saturday, April 21, 2012, Archbishop Justinian of Naro – Fominsk celebrated the Paschal Divine Liturgy, along with ROCOR Eastern American Vicars, Bishops George of Mayfield and Jerome of Manhattan. The Archpastors were coserved by a multitude of clergy from the Patriarchal Parishes and the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad. With the Blessing of His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, ordinations and awards were given to clerics of the Patriarchal Parishes
v Hieromonk Elias (Barna) (Archpriest Michael Barna, was tonsured a monk and given the name Elias on Friday April 20th) was elevated to the rank of Archimandrite
v Archpriest Nikolai Babitchouk, rector of All Saints of Russia Church in Pine Bush was awarded the right to wear the Miter
v Archpriest Sergei Kosich, rector of St. John the Baptist Church in Singac, was awarded the right to wear the Jeweled Cross
v Priest Alexey Bocharnikov, rector of St. Nicholas Church in Chester was awarded the right to wear the gold pectoral cross.
To continue Paschal Tradition, all the concelebrants and laypeople processed around the block of the cathedral, to 5th Avenue, to end at the principle doors of the Cathedral. Upon entering, Bishop Jerome proclaimed the Resurrection Gospel and ended with the triumphant words, Christ is Risen! Archbishop Justinian, in his homily, greeted the Eastern American Vicars and for their presence and prayers, were presented commemorative books on St. Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow. All the clerics gathered to the hall where the fast was broken amongst the fellow brother clergy.
